As we basked in the pleasant temperatures of a gorgeous, Oregonian summer evening, Marissa confessed to me with tears moistening her eyes that Oregon was better than California. I was stunned but knew it was true. Here we are in joyous rapture at the US Olympic trials watch the Women Pole vaulters in size -2 singlets bend their bodies over ever-raising bars. Our favorite event was the men's 400 where we got to see Lashawn Merritt beat Olympic Gold Medalist Jeremy Wariner at the tape.
Although Eugene has thrown my family a few curve balls over the years, we were proud to be the home of our future "Beijing Boys."
